That sunshine out there is amazing, ya’ll! I can’t believe it.

Wait a minute. Of course I can believe it. Right when I have a vacation scheduled to a place where it’s sunnier than it is in Portland it actually becomes sunny in Portland. Sigh.

Anyways, in honor of the sunshine and the coming of summer, we’ve got our Spring cupcakes read for their debut! So exciting!

Meet our new cupcakes:

The Salty Captain : This is the cupcake that steers the ‘salted caramel’ ship. With a salty-sweet ‘ahoy matey!’ caramel buttercream atop our rich ‘thar she blows!’ chocolate cake, your taste buds won’t know what hit them. Ahoy matey, indeed.

Lemon Sparkle : Our lemon buttercream is so delicious that it sparkles. Sitting atop our vanilla cake, it’s the perfect way to celebrate any occasion that needs celebrating. Cheers to that.

Oregon Marionberry : Made from real Marionberries from the real Oregon, this buttercream is perched atop our vanilla cake. Perfectly fresh and screaming ‘summer!’ you’ll love this one-of-a-kind treat.

And over in our pastry studio we’re working on a few great surprises: sandwiches on our housemade brioche ‘pretzels’, our own line of confections AND our new deluxe trail mix.

So much to make eat and so little time.

Is your mom a Top Mom?

Yes! Of course she is!

Saint Cupcake is looking for Portland’s Top Mom and here’s your chance to nominate your own mom for the title! If your mom is chosen as the tops she’ll get a fantastic Mother’s Day breakfast (for four) compliments of us. Everything from our delicious scones to Water Avenue coffee to a perfect floral bouquet from Anna Mara Floral Design - we’ll deliver the goods to her place on Mother’s Day morning. You can decide if you’ll deliver it to her room for breakfast-in-bed. How sweet!

And, in the spirit of Mother’s Day, I thought you might like to read this poem that I wrote for my mother on Mother’s Day in 1984. My interest in baking already apparent…

Dear Mother,
You have been so nice to me for eight years.
You fed me, you put me to bed, you took me shopping.
You gave me a life I’ll never forget.
I love you so much i won’t know what to do without a mother like you.
I will bring you flowers and everything else - candy, cookies and cake.
I just hope you have a happy mother’s day.

I know I’m not the only one who wishes it would stop raining.

I mean, seriously, I hate to complain - but (to quote Ms. Stefani,) this s*&t is bananas.

Speaking of bananas, it’s almost Easter! (Sorry. This rain is causing me to make very little (to no) sense whatsoever.)

Back to Easter…

We’ve got some delicious (non-banana) treats for you to stuff in your Easter baskets - and some spectacular delights to grace your Easter brunch.
